In 2020, EMOVE has released the Touring Electric scooter and in this review and buying guide we will be talking about all the amazing mobility advantages the EMOVE Touring has to offer for you.
In our opinion, this model hits the sweet spot for electric scooters: It is fast enough to keep up with traffic, which makes for a safer ride through the streets, while at the same time it is light enough to be picked up and put in the back of a trunk.
Many experts that have used the EMOVE Touring 2020 electric scooter do not hesitate to say that it is one of the best scooters in the market. This is caused by its many outstanding and sometimes even unique features that we will be looking into in this electric scooter review.
In fact, its bigger brother, the EMOVE Cruiser, made it into the ranking of the best electric scooters 2021.
EMOVE Touring Overview
The Touring 2020 is a mid-range electric scooter with amazing power and ride quality, which cause it to beat almost all competitor products of the same price level.
We can make a count of what it has to offer:
A 48V 13AH battery produced by market leader LG, which can take you quite far and charges relatively quickly.
Top-class speed and acceleration, convenient to take you to places into your city in record time!
A lightweight frame and wonderful suspension.
Customizability and very convenient portability properties.
Not to forget, it has an optional seat accessory for $65. It’s easy to install and it’s easy to dismount when you have to fold the scooter.
Not everything in the EMOVE Touring electric scooter is perfect though. It has remarkably small wheels, which sometimes do a suboptimal job at overcoming bumps and curb stones.
Let’s talk about the performance of the 2020 EMOVE Touring!
EMOVE Touring Performance
Top Speed
Buckle up! The EMOVE Touring 2020 can reach a top speed of up to 25 mph!

In comparison with other electric scooters that are already quite fast themselves, such as the Ninebot Max (18 mph), this is super quick.
This electric mobility solution will take you through the city in absolute record time.
Acceleration/Kick-Off
This is where the EMOVE Touring kicks every other scooter in its price range out of the top.
This scooter can easily get from 0 to 15 mph in only 3.9 seconds, which kind of feels like Tesla’s Ludicrous Mode.

If you’re into torque, the EMOVE Touring is your electric scooter!
Amazingly, this not only wins the comparison against other mid-range commuters, it also wins against very popular models such as the Apollo City, the Ninebot Max, the Zero 9, and the Xiaomi M365.
Hill Climbing

In this category, the EMOVE Touring is among the best-in-class, according to several product tests across the internet, including our own.
It tackles inclines of up to 20 degrees with apparent ease.
Electric Scooters with a lot of power, i.e. high top-speed and quick acceleration, as well as a low center of gravity, usually perform best at dealing with inclined riding grounds.
Thanks to its amazing power, the EMOVE Touring 2020 can climb hills without much trouble.
Only when the battery is low will the scooter start becoming significantly slower on inclines. However, this is the case with any electric scooter, and this one is definitely among the best.
Range
The range of the EMOVE Touring is very decent, at 24 miles.
While it is not the shortest of ranges, there are also quite a few electric scooters of the same price range that offer greater ranges, like the TurboAnt X7 Pro.
This is due to the fact that a powerful motor, like the one of this model, requires more energy. Only so will it be able to propel you up to high speeds.
Obviously, there is often a tradeoff between speed and range.
Braking & Safety
The EMOVE Touring 2020 electric scooter can come to a full stop from its remarkable top speed within only 16 feet, which is mind-bogglingly good if you think about it.

Given the fact that this scooter does not have a disk brake but only a drum brake in the rear wheel, this seems to be quite a great value.
One wonders if it could have been decreased even further using a disc brake.
Why?
Well, drum brakes are kind of outdated. The speedier human vehicles got, the greater was the shift from drum brakes towards disc brakes.
Another thing: we usually prefer independent braking systems on both of the wheels, instead of single braking mechanisms. Many electric scooters still boast singular brakes and it’s totally fine, but keep in mind that there is a better option implemented in a few models.

The brake is controlled with a mechanical brake lever on the left handlebar.
This is visually less appealing than a braking throttle looking similar to the power throttle, but it is slightly more effective and hence safe.
Also, one is just much more used to mechanical brake levers and simply feels safer.
Keep in mind that if you have the seat accessory mounted, it takes a greater distance to come to stop.
As in many modern electric scooters, the EMOVE Touring’s brake is regenerative. Any braking action will power up your battery.
EMOVE Touring Ride Quality
In terms of ride comfort, the EMOVE Touring 2020 is among the very best.

The main characteristic that makes the Touring 2020 so enjoyable to ride is its triple suspension system.
This consists of a suspension for the handlebar stem plus a double suspension for each one of the wheels.
Additionally, the front tire is pneumatic, which adds to the ride comfort (much more than the solid rear tire).
All in all, this electric scooter is really comfortable for doing long rides, and it provides significantly more protection against bumpy undergrounds.
EMOVE Touring Design

EMOVE has probably not spent too much time worrying about the appearance of this scooter. And to be fair, why would they? This scooter is all about best-in-class performance.
The deck and battery are not properly unified, the suspensions and lights look purely functional, there is a whole lot of wiring going on everywhere, and the throttle… well.
However, if you are into functional or retro design, this scooter is probably your best choice!
Also, you can add a lot of accessories to the EMOVE Touring. Other electric scooters usually don’t allow you to do so. One of these accessories is a thumb throttle, a great alternative to the conventional trigger throttle this scooter has.
Among the all accessories available for the Touring 2020, the most interesting one is the seat. You can mount it via four holes that already are in the deck. The only small problem with the seat is that it reduces the speed a bit, but it’s a great option if you can’t (or don’t want to) stand for long time. You can get it for only $65!
In terms of colors, you can find the Touring in two versions, either completely black or black and orange. Despite all the critique, the colors of both versions look great!
Portability, Weight & Dimensions
The weight we are dealing with here is around 39 pounds, which is, more or less, a standard weight for a city scooter.
However, considering the fact that this scooter has such advanced features and enough stability to carry 308 lbs, it is actually incredibly lightweight.
It’s easy to carry when it’s folded. As it folds at the deck, not at the stem, its folded height is further reduced.

In addition to that, the handlebars can fold as well, which makes this electric scooter super portable.
The eventual folded dimensions are a mere 48 (length) x 11,5 (height) x 8 (width) inches.
EMOVE Touring Feature Deep Dive
Battery
Let’s talk about the battery and compare it to other models around its price.
In the EMOVE Touring you will find a 48V, 13 Ah battery produced by market leader LG, that can handle up to 624 W/h. That’s massive!
It is extremely reliable and has a long lifespan because it was made following the ISO manufacturing standards.
Comparing it to the Ninebot Max, which can only handle 551 W/h, this battery is supreme. And it has a shorter recharge time!
And even better: Charging the EMOVE Touring battery from 0 to 100 will only take you 3-4 hours.
What adds to the length of every battery cycle of the Touring 2020 is the regenerative braking system that stores energy back into the battery every time you brake.
Motor
Seeing what the Touring 2020 did with its competitors in the acceleration, hill climbing and top speed sections, what else can you can expect other than a great motor in this scooter?
It has a peak power output of 750W (500W nominal power), making it one of the best electric scooters to climb hills.
The motor also provides top acceleration power, which allows you to reach top speed quickly.
Of course, above everything else, the great motor makes it a speedy scooter. What else you can ask for?
Wheels
Not everything is perfect in this scooter.
The wheels, for example, are comparatively small.
This results in the EMOVE Touring electric scooter not being able to handle all kinds of bumps and curbs without struggle.
Smaller wheels are also more exposed to the risk of getting stuck in tram rails or potholes.
Make sure to be careful about that!
The tire of the rear wheel is solid, while the front wheel tire is at least pneumatic, meaning filled with air, which has better load and deflection characteristics.
Let’s not forget at this point: The Touring 2020 has a triple suspension system, which really compensates for the small wheels.
Cockpit
Just like anything else on this electric scooter, the cockpit of the EMOVE Touring is purely functional.

To your left will you find a very smoothly operating brake lever, the button to the horn and the flip-switch for the headlight.
While a bell is better for alerting pedestrians, the horn is much better when you are in traffic. It is louder and car drivers will be much more attentive to its sound.
On the right side we find the throttle. Interestingly, the EMOVE Touring has a trigger throttle.
Luckily, it can be upgraded with a thumb and twist throttle as well, which can be easily mounted to replace the trigger throttle.
The thumb throttle is the classic one we know and love from almost all other electric scooters, and the twist throttle is similar to that of more highly powered motorized scooters and motorcycles.
Thus, whichever method of controlling your locomotion you prefer, you will be satisfied.
The LCD display shows your speed, riding mode, the battery capacity left, and more.
Here you can also customize your ride by adjusting the P-modes, which include a few things like the brake strength, etc.
Handlebars
The handlebars are ergonomically shaped and have a nice grip. Both the stem and the handlebars are reinforced and feel absolutely stable.
Nice feature: The handlebar stem is adjustable from 28″ to 38″ height. This will make sure that it fits perfectly to your stature.
Lights
EMOVE claims that the headlight and rear light mounted onto the Touring 2020 electric scooter provide enough light for comfortably riding at nighttime.

However, we recommend adding an additional handlebar-mounted light.
Deck
Having 23″ by 7″ of space, the Touring 2020 deck is far-above-average roomy and comfortable.

The deck also has sandpaper grip tapes that will not let you fall off the scooter and it has 5″ of ground clearance, a great thing to keep you away from all the bumps and dirt.
Weight Capacity
The Touring 2020 has a weight limit of 308 pounds. This speaks in favor of this electric scooter’s build quality, high deck clearance and triple suspension.
For comparison, the Apollo City ($1000) can only allow up to 265 lbs and the Ninebot Max ($799) can just allow 220 lbs.
If you are heavy, this is your option!
Resistance
This electric scooter’s resistance rating against water and dirt is IP54.
Following international standards, this means that this vehicle is fully protected against dirt and water splashes.
That’s great news. You can ride your Touring in any weather condition, whether it is during a massive rainfall or a sandstorm.
However, the scooter should not be submerged under water. Don’t ride it into your pool.
Smartphone App Connectivity
This is not an electric scooter that can be connected to a mobile phone. EMOVE does not provide an app (they do not even have a website).
Instead, EMOVE paid more attention to boosting the performance of this scooter.
Awards
This electric scooter model did not win any awards.
It is more of a secret tip for scooterheads.
Final Verdict: EMOVE Touring
This EMOVE Touring electric scooter review concludes by claiming that this model is an excellent performer which can take you from A to B quickly and make every ride a fun experience.
Hereby, the most noteworthy upsides are the great power, which allows high top-speed and superb hill climbing ability, and the great comfort provided by the triple suspension system and overall vehicle stability.
Whatever might speak against this model in terms of visual appearance is greatly outweighed by all that speaks in favor of it.
All in all, one could say that EMOVE focuses all their resources on developing and pushing the boundaries of key features of an electric scooter, such as performance and comfort.
